HB: 6618- An Act Concerning Farm to School Programs

ABOUT THE BILL: The CT Farm to School Collaborative’s bill to establish a CT Grown for CT Kids grants program was heard in the Education Committee Public Hearing on Wednesday, March 17th.  It passed out of the Education Committee with a 32 to 6 vote!
The language of the bill was moved to HB 6618 (Section 9, to read it click here). The next stop for our Bill is for it to move to the Appropriations Committee where our supporters will work to identify strategies to fully fund our bill.
THANK YOU to all those who've submitted written and verbal testimonies! We also thank  our legislative lobbyist, Janice Fleming-Butler.
We are continuing to build support across the CGA and are fortunate to have received support from many legislators during the public hearing including;
  • Rep. Bobby Gibson
  • Rep. Bobby Sanchez
  • Senator Doug McCrory
  • Rep. Jeff Currey
  • Rep. William Petit
  • Rep. Welander
  • Many more that have co-sponsored or expressed interest!
This bill will support farm to school and positively impact CT school, early care sites, and communities throughout CT with a focus on those most under resourced.
